Car hire in Stoke on Trent
Stoke-on-Trent is a city made up of six different towns: Tunstall and Burslem to the north, Hanley (the City Centre) to the centre and Stoke, Fenton and Longton to the south. Together they are known as 'The Potteries' and the 40+ working potteries are spread throughout the six towns, which are about 20 minutes apart by bus.
Potteries Way is Hanley's ring road curving round the eastern edge of the city centre. The Potteries Shopping Centre is in the north of the city centre on Quadrant Road which runs south turning into Stafford Street and then Lichfield Street by the bus station. The Cultural Quarter is in the south-west of the City Centre around Piccadilly and Pall Mall. Visit this district to enjoy The Potteries Museum, the theatres, bars and restaurants.
The train station (Stoke-on-Trent station) is located in Stoke, south of Hanley (City Centre). Regular bus services connect the station with the City Centre (journey time 10 mins) and there is a taxi rank outside the station. The Spode Visitor Centre and Portmeirion Factory Shop are both within a 10-minute walk of the railway station. Festival Park is a 10-minute bus ride west of Hanley and Trentham is 15-minutes by bus, located three miles south of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
