Southend, on Sea, one of the famous Essex resorts, known as London's playground due to it's location close to London is often visited for just day or the weekend.

Don't miss the famous pier, the longest in the world, built in 1889, which has been restored to its former glory. Some quieter places east and west of the main town, such as Leigh, ideal for a stroll with a cobbled High Street, art galleries and Heritage Centre.
