Car hire in Preston
The town centre has enjoyed a face-lift with many of the buildings and attractions being rejuvenated including the Harris Museum, which stands just a stone’s throw from the wonderful covered Market Square. The lovely Avenam Park is the place to get away from it all and plays host to live music concerts during the summer. If you enjoy live music any time of the year Preston has an excellent scene with dozens of pubs, clubs and major venues to choose from.
Top of the entertainment list is The Guildhall with its yearlong programme of pop and rock concerts, orchestra recitals, shows and lectures. There are also plenty of great restaurants and cafes, and this being home of the University of Central Lancashire many of them are very nicely priced indeed. Preston is a great place for a weekend break its also only 20 minutes from Southport and Blackpool and an hour from Liverpool and Manchester by train.
Nestled in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire’s principal town, Preston has, over the last decade or so, virtually re-invented itself. Gone is the soot and grime that covered so many wonderful Victorian Buildings, gone is the industrial wasteland of the docks and gone are the tatty shop fronts that lined the extensive shopping centre. The docklands now boast luxury flats, several hypermarkets, fast food outlets and a 2 purpose built pubs
