The report was given wide publicity and people in search of a healthy environment began to visit the “Sun City.” A few years later, the Orange Belt Railroad chugged into St. Petersburg and Clearwater, bringing tourists seeking relief from cold northern winters and lured by the area’s sunshine and beaches.
