Car hire in Carlisle
Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, and is the centre for shopping, entertainment and the arts for the north of the county.
Situated in the far north of England in the county of Cumbria, this city is only a short distance from the Scottish border. Also just a short distance from Carlisle is the famous Hadrian's Wall which was constructed by the Romans around AD120, and stretches around 80 miles in the direction of Newcastle.
Other attractions in Carlisle include the Carlisle Castle which was originally built in the 10th century but much of what is visible today is from the 12th century onwards. Other attractions in this unqiue Cumbrian city include the wonderful galleries and museums such as the Border Regimental Museum and the Tullie House Museum which chronicles the history of the museum.
If you enjoy eating out then there are a few good dining options in the city serving up some wonderful and innobative British cuisine. Hotels in Carlisle vary in standard and quality although visitors will find some of the more well known hotel chains in this beautiful northern city.
