Aberdeen airport, situated seven miles northwest of the city centre, is one of the principle gateways to Scotland, with links to the Northern Isles, Scandinavia and most major cities in the British Isles. It also serves as an important helicopter base with services to all the North Sea Oil fields, while transatlantic crossings are possible with a stop-over in London or Amsterdam.
There is one terminal at the airport, with all facilities centralised for easy access and adequate provision of services. The Aberdeen Airport is open from 0500 to 2230, with Arrivals and Check-in both situated on the ground floor.
A bureau de change is located before security, opposite the information desk. (0530-2200 Monday-Friday, 0600-1800 weekends). There are also ATMs at either side of Security. There is also a left-luggage facility located next to the airport information desk.
Aberdeen Airport offers a good variety of shops including Books Plus, Christian Scott (knitwear, Scottish gifts), The Whisky Shop, Box of Delights (confectionary) and a good selection of airside duty-free outlets. Further facilities include a mother and baby room, which is located in the terminal building, near the information desk.
The airport has a pub and several restaurants, a bar and a coffee shop. There is also a choice of self-service restaurant, cafe bar, and baked potato counter.
